Opinion: I’m Not Too Fond of Kim Reynolds

I hate to be a Negative Nelly over here, but I gotta say I’m not the biggest fan of Gov. Kim Reynolds. Hopefully I don’t make too many enemies by saying that.

It’s just that after reading the story about Gov. Reynolds reallocating Covid relief funds, I gotta admit I don’t particularly care for how she’s running the place. In my opinion, I don’t think she should’ve diverted funds during the middle of a global pandemic, but hey, that’s just my two cents.

And I don’t wanna break any hearts here, but I also think her overall response to our Covid crisis has been a little below par. If I’m being honest, I disagree with most of what she’s done. When she refused to issue a mask mandate, I thought to myself “Woah, buddy…I’m not so sure about this one,” but I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Now, it’s seven months later, and we’re #1 in the country for Covid positivity tests, and I really think she could’ve handled it better.

Furthermore, hearing about the way she’s disregarded direct orders from the WHO to issue a stay at home order given the high percentage of Covid related deaths in Iowa, I think I’m justified in saying she isn’t exactly what I’m looking for in an elected official. Maybe it’s just me, but I want my representatives to care about my well-being.

I’m willing to admit if I’ve misjudged her once all the facts come in, but as of now, I can’t fully get behind Gov. Reynolds or her sordid history. Of course, I don’t want to besmirch anybody’s name, but it seems to me she might not be the most qualified person for the job. That’s just my thoughts anyway.

I’m also a teensy bit unnerved by the leadership she’s followed. Mainly her being a devoted follower of another politician I don’t particularly care for: Mr. Donald J. Trump. I don’t wanna get on a tangent or anything, but needless to say I have a few choice words for him as well. Sorry, guys, I know it’s a hot take, but I just don’t see the appeal of President Trump. But hey maybe I’m just out of touch.

Sorry if this piece offends you, but I can’t hold back on my opinion anymore. I just think that Gov. Reynolds could be doing a better job.
